Then [if you had], We would have made you taste double [punishment in] life and double [after] death. Then you would not find for yourself against Us a helper.
لَّأَذَقۡنَٰكَWe (would) have made you tastela-adhaqnāka
ضِعۡفَdoubleḍiʿ'fa
ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ(in) the lifel-ḥayati
وَضِعۡفَand doublewaḍiʿ'fa
ٱلۡمَمَاتِ(after) the deathl-mamāti
ثُمَّThenthumma
لَاnotlā
تَجِدُyou (would) have foundtajidu
لَكَfor youlaka
عَلَيۡنَاagainst Usʿalaynā
نَصِيرٗاany helpernaṣīran
Tafsir
And had you inclined towards them in what they requested you, I would have given you multiplied punishment in this life and the Hereafter, then you would not find any helper to assist you against Me and avert punishment from you.
