But they will surely carry their [own] burdens and [other] burdens along with their burdens,1 and they will surely be questioned on the Day of Resurrection about what they used to invent.
Translation: Saheeh International (English)
1 Besides their own sins, they will carry those of the people they misled, although it will not lessen the burden of the latter.
وَلَيَحۡمِلُنَّBut surely they will carrywalayaḥmilunna
أَثۡقَالَهُمۡtheir burdensathqālahum
وَأَثۡقَالٗاand burdenswa-athqālan
مَّعَwithmaʿa
أَثۡقَالِهِمۡۖtheir burdensathqālihim
وَلَيُسۡـَٔلُنَّand surely they will be questionedwalayus'alunna
يَوۡمَ(on the) Dayyawma
ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ(of) the Resurrectionl-qiyāmati
عَمَّاabout whatʿammā
كَانُواْthey usedkānū
يَفۡتَرُونَ(to) inventyaftarūna
Tafsir
And I shall burden these idolaters who call towards their falsehood with the sins they committed and I shall burden them with the sins of those who followed their call, without any of the sins of their followers being decreased. And they will be questioned on the day of judgment regarding the falsehood they used to invent in this world.
