And O my people, let not [your] dissension from me cause you to be struck by that similar to what struck the people of Noah or the people of Hūd or the people of Ṣāliḥ. And the people of Lot are not from you far away.
يَجۡرِمَنَّكُمۡ(Let) not cause you to sinyajrimannakum
شِقَاقِيٓmy dissensionshiqāqī
أَنlestan
يُصِيبَكُمbefalls youyuṣībakum
مِّثۡلُsimilarmith'lu
مَآ(to) whatmā
أَصَابَbefellaṣāba
قَوۡمَ(the) people of Nuhqawma
نُوحٍ(the) people of Nuhnūḥin
أَوۡoraw
قَوۡمَ(the) people of Hudqawma
هُودٍ(the) people of Hudhūdin
أَوۡoraw
قَوۡمَpeople of Salihqawma
صَٰلِحٖۚpeople of Salihṣāliḥin
وَمَاAnd notwamā
قَوۡمُ(are the) people of Lutqawmu
لُوطٖ(are the) people of Lutlūṭin
مِّنكُمfrom youminkum
بِبَعِيدٖfar offbibaʿīdin
Tafsir
He continued: O my people, do not let your hatred for me make you deny what I have brought. You should fear that you will suffer like the people of Noah, the people of Hūd or the people of Ṣāliḥ. The people of Lot are not far from you, in time nor place. You know what happened to them, so take a lesson from that.
