And We caused the people who had been oppressed to inherit the eastern regions of the land and the western ones, which We had blessed. And the good word [i.e., decree] of your Lord was fulfilled for the Children of Israel because of what they had patiently endured. And We destroyed [all] that Pharaoh and his people were producing and what they had been building.
وَمَغَٰرِبَهَاand the western (parts) of itwamaghāribahā
ٱلَّتِيwhichallatī
بَٰرَكۡنَاWe blessedbāraknā
فِيهَاۖ[in it]fīhā
وَتَمَّتۡAnd was fulfilledwatammat
كَلِمَتُ(the) wordkalimatu
رَبِّكَ(of) your Lord rabbika
ٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰthe bestl-ḥus'nā
عَلَىٰforʿalā
بَنِيٓ(the) Childrenbanī
إِسۡرَٰٓءِيلَ(of) Israelis'rāīla
بِمَاbecausebimā
صَبَرُواْۖthey were patientṣabarū
وَدَمَّرۡنَاAnd We destroyedwadammarnā
مَاwhatmā
كَانَused tokāna
يَصۡنَعُmakeyaṣnaʿu
فِرۡعَوۡنُFiraunfir'ʿawnu
وَقَوۡمُهُۥand his peoplewaqawmuhu
وَمَاand whatwamā
كَانُواْthey used tokānū
يَعۡرِشُونَerectyaʿrishūna
Tafsir
I made the Children of Israel, who had been humiliated by Pharaoh and his people, inherit the eastern areas of the land and the western areas of it (the lands of the Levant). Allah blessed this land, making it produce the best crops and fruits. So the good word of your Lord was fulfilled O Messenger where Allah says, ‘I wished to favour those who were weak in the earth, and to make them leaders and inheritors’ (Sūrat al-Qaṣaṣ: 5). So God established them in the land because of their patience in the face of the harm they had suffered from Pharaoh and his people, and God destroyed the agriculture and buildings of Pharaoh, and the palaces they had constructed.
